Top Ten Thoughts O' The Day (2-17-10)

10. I am very much enjoying the latter days of Reliant K's career.

9. Normally, when I dream, I forget all about it the moment my feet hit the floor. Had a nightmare the other day. Probably the scariest I've ever had. Can't seem to shake it.

8. Zombieland = perfection (its own kind).

7. I dislike it when people tell you to check the mail in the morning, but they apparently miscalculated how fast the U.S. postal system works, and there is nothing for you to find. Especially when you got work before the mail comes, so you've that nagging quasi-excitement all day. Disappointing.

6. "How we live our days is how we live our lives." -Annie Dillard

5. If you ever have a chance to read "This Is Water" by David Foster Wallace, please do. You won't regret it, especially if you attended a liberal arts university. (Unfortunately, a publisher owns the rights to the speech, and has removed all traces of it from the interwebs. It was a twenty minute speech, spoken live, one time, and the publisher is greedy enough to make people pay $15 for it in book form, when it should be available to anyone and everyone.)

4. Snow, you were cute for awhile. Now you're just annoying. Knock it off.

3. I believe I'll watch Pandorum as I go to bed tonight...which probably won't help with the nightmare situation.

2. Me, sitting in my basement. I open my laptop, open the sound recorder program, place the computer as close to my amp as possible. I record a riff. I save it, then play it back as a .wav file, plugging one set of headphones into the computer, and another into my amp, creating a mix in my head, and I play along with what I recorded. This is my ultra-cheap, ultra-tedious, and ultra-frustrating writing/recording process. Hopefully this will be remedied soon.

1. Death closes all; but something ere the end
Some work of noble note may yet be done
Not unbecoming of men that strove with Gods.
-Tennyson

  1. I do the same thing as you as far as recording. Except I never play my electric guitar anymore, because my mom hates it. So acoustic it is.
